ACADEMIC/ PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Victor Markus graduated with a first-class degree in Biochemistry (BSc) in 2012 from Kaduna State University. He earned his master’s degree (MSc) in Medical Biochemistry with distinction in 2017 from Near East University. He proceeded to PhD at the same University where he graduated in 2021 with a distinction in Medical Biochemistry. He was trained as an intern at ECWA Central Pharmacy (a generic pharmaceutical company) (2010-2011) and Department of Biotechnology Engineering Ben-Gurion University of Negev (2019-2020). His outstanding academic performance has earned him several scholarship awards, including Shell Nigeria University Scholarship (2009), Kaduna State Government Overseas Scholarship (2014), Near East University full PhD Scholarship (2017), and Israel Council for Higher Education International scholarship (2019). He has worked at Emotan College Kaduna as a teacher (2012), Department of Biochemistry University of Uyo as a graduate assistant (2012-2013), Professor Timothy Bulus Research Animal Farm,Kaduna State University, as a Research Assistant (2012), and Department of Medical Biochemistry Near East University as Research Assistant and Lecturer (2016-2021). He has participated and presented at several scientific congresses, academic settings, and professional meetings. He has published two books and many peer-reviewed scientific articles in high-impact international journals. Currently, he is employed as an Assistant Professor of Medical Biochemistry at Near East University Faculty of Medicine where he is engaged in a range of research with emphasis on quorum sensing, protein structure and function, molecular enzymology, and biochemical toxicology.
