Attention to Phase I Students

Attention to Phase I Students (English Group),

2025-2026 Academic Year will begin on September 29, 2025. The Opening and White Coat Ceremony will be held on October 6, 2025, at 16.00 in the Faculty Building.

Please find the list of common courses to be taken in the academic year of 2024-2025. Once they are active in the system (after September 15, 2025), these courses must be chosen in the Student Information System (https://neu.edu.tr/online-services/?lang=en) and UZEBIM (uzebim.neu.edu.tr).

AIT100   Atatürk  and the Modern History of Turkey (for students from TC and TRNC)

AIT200   Atatürk  and the Modern History of Turkey (for International students)

TUR100 Turkish Language (for students from TC and TRNC)

YIT100   Turkish Language (for International students)

ENG100 English (ALL students) (Even you have studied in the prep school in the previous year OR passed the English exam OR have a valid English exam document (TOEFL, IELTS etc., all students MUST take English course).

1 ELECTIVE COURSE (Information will be given in the meeting with the Coordinators)

An exemption exam will be held on 30.09.2025 for common courses given at both Turkish and English medium departments. ONLY new students registering for the fall semester academic year 2025-2026 can take the exam according to the guidance given below:

AIT100 Atatürk İlkeleri ve İnkılap Tarihi I-II (Cypriot and Turkish students)

TUR100 Türk Dili I-II (Cypriot and Turkish students)

ENG100 English I-II (All students)*

*ENG100 is compulsory for all students (It does not matter if you have passed preparatory school or any proficiency test).

Scores taken from exemption exams will affect the CGPA. When student gets a lower score from the exam, (s)he will not be allowed to re-take the course in the academic year.

Students may prefer to take one or two exams they are good at instead of taking the exemption exams for all.

Students who prefer not take these exemption exams will take these courses during the year. More information about these exams will be announced later.
